Running a Spiritual Based Business in line with your Numeric Energies

I am often asked how I run my business so that it still feels like a grounded business, but still bring in holistic and Spiritual energies.

When I started Bizology® there were less ‘holistic business’ businesses around, 8 years on you can’t move for them.

I will be honest I find the so-called Spiritual world one of the worst – there is so much Spiritual bypassing and Spiritual narcissism. I call it ‘Love light and a lot of Shite …’ literally.

Just because you are working in the Spiritual realm does not give you the right to gaslight people and say what you want – and feel you got away with it because you added on the end – ‘said with love!’ Just no.

10 years ago, I belonged to a lot of “Spiritual” groups and gently removed myself, now it feels like it is prolific in the online business world and you really need to do your due diligence with who you get involved with.

I have witnessed ‘Spiritual’ business owners taking other business owners Intellectual Property, being in breach of trademark, practicing and calling themselves titles that they are not experienced or qualified to do so.

I have also seen shoddy practices with regards to Standard Operating Procedures, Client onboarding, delivery and care. Just because you call yourself a light worker does not mean you are exempt from best practices!

Let’s unpack this a bit more …

Core Values and Ethical Standards

Integrity and Transparency is key – It is important to be upfront about qualifications, experience, with regards to the scope of service you offer.

Professionalism in Practice – Credentials Matter. Acknowledge the difference between being “intuitive” and valid certifications and experience to deliver specific services, ensuring trust and credibility.

Clear Communication – Avoid using spiritual jargon to bypass clear explanations, especially when it comes to pricing, expectations and results.

Structured Processes – Ensure contracts, terms and conditions and refund policies are clear, fair and legally compliant.

Respect for Boundaries and Clients

Empathy Without Overstepping – It’s crucial to maintain professionalism without becoming overly entangled in clients’ personal lives.

Trauma-Informed Practices – Recognise when clients might need professional therapeutic help that goes beyond holistic guidance, ensuring referral systems are in place.

Consent and Confidentiality – Ensure that all client information is handled with respect and discretion.

No Excuses for Harmful Behaviour

Ensure Spiritual narratives are not misused to dismiss or deflect constructive criticism.

Collaboration Over Competition – Uplift peers in the industry rather than resorting to unhealthy competition or Intellectual Property disputes. At the same time this does not mean you have to ‘give away’ your brand and content as you are constantly told ‘there is enough to go around …!’

Business Best Practices – you are still running a business so make sure that you … Have Standard Operating Procedures – Develop a professional framework for client onboarding, session delivery, and follow-ups. Create Feedback Loops: Regularly gather and implement constructive feedback to improve products and services.

Authenticity and Alignment

Walking Your Talk – Ensure that your personal practices align with the Holistic principles you promote in your business.

Avoiding Overclaims – Be realistic about what your holistic services can achieve and avoid promising outcomes that are outside your control.

Community and Leadership

Do Your Due Diligence – Carefully vet who you partner or collaborate with, and don’t feel you have to go to everything you are invited to – it is OK to put your business first.

Watch Toxic Positivity in Spirituality – Overemphasis on positivity to the exclusion of all other emotions – flip this around for Toxic Negativity – where no personal responsibility is taken.

Misuse of Authority – Positioning yourself as a guru or spiritual leader while exploiting followers.

Respecting Spiritual Practices

Ensure when you use spiritual traditions you understand their origins and respect their sacredness. Understanding what and why you are practicing and teaching not dumbing down or diluting important subject practices.

Unrealistic Promises

Making exaggerated claims about the results of certain spiritual practices or services.
