This week marks 12 years since I started my business.
Twelve years. That feels quite strange to write.
When I started, I thought business success was mostly about strategy. Learning more. Doing more. Working harder. Finding the right answers.
And whilst all of those things matter, what I’ve discovered over the last 12 years is that business is rarely just about business.
It’s about people. Their confidence. Their beliefs. Their strengths. Their fears. Their willingness to trust themselves.
It’s about why one person takes action whilst another hesitates. Why one person thrives with visibility whilst another finds it draining. Why one person loves structure and routine whilst another feels trapped by it.
Why two people can be given exactly the same advice and achieve completely different results.
For the last 12 years I have had the privilege of sitting behind the scenes of hundreds of businesses.
I’ve seen the launches.
The successes.
The failures.
The breakthroughs.
The pivots.
The self-doubt.
The confidence.
The tears.
The celebrations.
The moments where somebody finally realises they are not failing, they are simply trying to operate in a way that doesn’t align with who they are.
That is one of the reasons I was drawn to numerology – because numerology begins with a very simple premise.
Uniqueness.
You are unique. Your numbers are unique. Your path is unique. Therefore your business and the way you ‘do’ business is unique too.
Over the years, numerology has given me a framework for understanding both myself and the people I work with.
It has helped me make sense of why some things feel effortless whilst others feel like hard work.
Why timing matters. Why visibility matters. Why some people naturally lead whilst others prefer to support. Why some opportunities flourish and others never quite take root.
Most importantly, it has shown me that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to business.
Looking back over the last 12 years, these are some of the biggest truths I have learned through Bizology®.
1. Your business works best when YOU work as you
I’ve lost count of the number of business owners I’ve worked with who thought the answer was to become somebody else. To market like them. To sell like them. To show up like them.
The more I study people, business and numbers, the more I see that your business works best when it reflects who you actually are, not who you think you should be.
2. There are better years and easier years to do things
One of the biggest gifts numerology has given me is an understanding of timing. Not every year is designed for growth. Not every year is designed for launching. Not every year is designed for pushing harder.
Understanding your cosmic cycles doesn’t mean sitting back and doing nothing. It means knowing where your energy is best placed and working with the current rather than constantly swimming against it.
3. Some people are here to lead, others are here to support
The online world often celebrates leadership above everything else. But businesses need leaders, communicators, nurturers, builders, visionaries and supporters. Every role has value.
One of the things I love most about numerology is that there is no hierarchy. Different does not mean better.
4. If you force the timing, business becomes exhausting
Whenever something has felt incredibly hard in my business, timing has usually been part of the story.
There is a difference between aligned action and forced action. One feels energising. The other feels exhausting. I’ve learned that not everything needs to happen today. Timing matters.
5. Not every strategy works for every number
This is why cookie-cutter business advice frustrates me so much.
The strategy that transformed one person’s business can completely drain somebody else. We are all wired differently. The more I understand people’s numbers, the more I understand why different approaches work for different people.
6. Visibility looks different depending on your chart
Not everybody is designed to show up in the same way. Not everybody wants to be on a stage. Not everybody wants to be on video. Not everybody wants to be the loudest voice in the room. Some people become known through expertise. Others through relationships. Others through creativity.
Visibility isn’t one-size-fits-all and neither is success.
7. Your numbers explain your natural strengths and struggles
One of my favourite things about numerology is how quickly it helps people understand themselves. The things they have always found easy suddenly make sense. The things they have always struggled with suddenly make sense.
Understanding yourself creates self-awareness and self-awareness changes everything.
8. Boundaries are business tools
This lesson took me a while. Particularly as someone who can be very 9. For years I thought helping more people was always the answer.
What I’ve learned is that healthy boundaries protect your energy, your time and your ability to serve people well. Boundaries aren’t selfish. They’re essential.
9. You are not the number next to you
Comparison is one of the quickest ways to lose confidence. I’ve watched brilliant people question themselves simply because they were comparing their journey to somebody else’s.
Your path was never designed to look like anyone else’s. The sooner you stop comparing and start understanding yourself, the easier business becomes.
10. The right opportunities arrive when you are aligned
Looking back, some of the best opportunities in my business arrived when I stopped chasing them.
The more clarity I have around who I am and what I stand for, the easier it becomes for the right people and opportunities to find me. Alignment creates clarity. And clarity attracts. And remember there are better years and easier years to do things :)
11. Understanding yourself changes how you lead
Whether you lead a business, a team, a family or simply yourself, self-awareness matters.
The more you understand your patterns, your motivations and your blind spots, the better decisions you make. And better decisions tend to create better results. And after 12 years in business, I’ve come to realise that good decisions compound.
12. Knowing your numbers increases your numbers
People often smile when I say this. But I genuinely believe it. Not because numerology is magic.
But because understanding yourself helps you make more aligned decisions. It helps you play to your strengths. It helps you focus your energy where it belongs. And when you do that, business tends to become easier, more enjoyable and more profitable.
The Biggest Lesson of All
If there is one thing I have learned over the last 12 years, it is this …
Business makes far more sense when you understand the person behind it.
The strategies matter. The systems matter. The marketing matters. But the person implementing all of those things matters most. After 12 years, I am more convinced of that than ever.
That’s why I continue to do this work. Not because I love numbers. Although I do.
But because I love watching business owners understand themselves more deeply.
At its heart, that’s what Bizology® has always been about.
Because sometimes the biggest breakthrough isn’t learning something new.
It’s finally seeing what has been there all along.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Bizology® over the years.
Here’s to the next 12 years.
