This week – (the first week of June 2024), I have been running my own business for 10 years.

Below I have shared with you the TOP 10 things that I have learnt in my business over these past 10 years.  Last year I shared 90 things for my 9 years in business, I am now in my Personal Year 7 – so I have gone deeper and chose to share my top 10 – as less is more this year!

By sharing the gems and nuggets that I have learnt, I hope to pass on some of the inspire other aspiring and developing business owners.

1. Create your own community

It’s self-employment not ‘by-your-self’ employment. Find your tribe of people who will lift you higher. As you shift and evolve, so will your people and you know what? That’s OK.  Your vibe does attract your tribe – so find your soul clients and love them hard.  Build an authentic, integral and credible community. Find business BFF’s, those that have your back and lift you higher, who are on the same path as you.Keep your inner circle tight, literally count them on one hand.

2. All we get is time and choices – be wise with both

Either you run the day, or the day runs you.  Every day has a different planetary energy as there are better ‘days’ and easier ‘days’ to do things.  Mondays are ruled by the Moon and can be intense.  I created ‘Marketing Mondays’ in my business where I have the space and time to work ON my business instead of IN my business.    It’s okay if productivity looks different every day.  Pushing doesn’t work, work hard by all means but choose your path and align your efforts to take action to pursue your goals.  The magic happens in the gaps, so ensure you take time out to reflect, refocus and replenish.

3.Comparitinitis

Oscar Wilde said – “Be yourself as everyone else is taken”. Your journey is uniquely your journey.  The concept of using numerology in business to create Bizology® is this very thing – connecting you to the power of your uniqueness.  There is no cookie cutter approach in business, what will work for you will not work for the next person. Stay on your page.  Stay in your lane.  Comparitinitis is a real thing in business, especially with the online space – don’t compare your chapter 3 with someone else’s chapter 23.  Remember, people will love you and people will hate you and none of it will have anything to do with you – other people’s opinions do not pay your bills!

4. Get a message and solve problems

You do need an ideal client; a lot of people fear of niching so remember – get big, get niche or get out.  If you speak to everyone you speak to no-one. You need to carve your message, so your ideal client hears you.  Being so right for some people you are so wrong for others; the right people will resonate with your message.  People do not buy their way into something they buy their way out of something. It may feel an old paradigm, but your one job is to solve your ideal clients’ problems.  People buy results so ensure you communicate the transformation that you provide by selling the sizzle not the sausage.

5. Take inspired action

‘Nothing works unless you do’ – Maya Angelou. You do not have to be great to start but you must start to be great.  Taking action is like driving a car with a sat nav; the sat nav will not give you directions on where to go until you start driving.  This is what running a business is like, just start and make your next move from that place. Perfection keeps you poor – done is better than perfect, get yourself out there.  People do not work with you if you have a nice logo! they sign up to work with you as your products and services solve the problems that they have.

6. It IS all about the money, honey

Sales do solve everything! (well profit does), ask yourself the question at the end of every day, ‘Have I rung the till today?’ If not, then turn your focus to IPA (income producing activity) to ensure you ring that till.  85% of sales made are between the 5th and 8th point of 1-2-1 contact with someone. Remember, when you run your own business, you are also the sales force, marketing alone is not enough a sales pipeline is vital too.  This is where a lot of small business owners fall short as the fortune is in the follow up.

Get a handle on your conversion rate’s and KPI’show much money do you want your business to bring in a month? How much does your core product cost? How many do you need to sell to bring in your desired monthly income? How many people do you need to speak to sell these products? What is your conversion rate? What activity do you need to do to get in front of these people? – know your numbers – in every sense of the word.

Remember – One. One. One. One.  Focus on ONE product, ONE route to market, ONE avatar (ideal client) and ONE platform – at ONCE.

How are you inviting your clients to reinvest with you? Package it up by taking your clients on a journey of products and services with you, it costs x100 times more to obtain a new client than to keep an old client one.

7.  It wasn’t a waste of time if you learnt something

When you lose, don’t lose the lesson. There Is no magic wand in business, it is about failing forward.  If you are not making mistakes, you are not making decisions. You always get tested the most before you progress to the next level – it’s as if the Universe is testing you, a case of – are you sure The magic happens outside your comfort zone.  If it’s uncomfortable, it’s stretching you, if you are squeezing your bum cheeks a bit, if you are being brave – from these places you will see results.

8. Invest in YOU and Your Business

How do you expect others to invest in you if you are not investing in you?Accountability is powerful, it’s amazing what you do when someone is watching.

The power of T.E.A.M work is real = Together Everyone Achieves More.  Do what you do best and outsource the rest.  What do you need to delegate and get supportwith so that you can work in your zone of genius and focus on your numeric energies, hiring others to focus on theirs.  Equally, ensure you do not hire too many too soon, keep a handle on this – it is a fine balance.

9. Let Go

As you rise the Universe will remove the things that are no longer in alignment. Don’t fight it, let it go, to create the space for that which is more of an energetic fit for you and your business.  Especially in a Personal Year 9 as there are better times andeasier times to do things.  Bizology® shows us this through the cosmic current 9-year cycles.  Which Personal Year are you in? Everything we need is right in front of us just when we need it.  Trust the journey and make sure you know the Personal Year that you are currently in and what this means for your business RIGHT NOW.

10. It Always Seems Impossible …

Until it’s done.  Life is not easy, running a business is not easy and we make it more difficult!  Essentially, we are here to learn, and these lessons can be found in your numbers.  Nothing happens in life without numbers.  They are literally intrinsic to everything we do.  Mathematicians say numbers rule the world, and they are right!  Understanding yourself through the lens of numbers is so powerful.  Bizology® helps you make better business decisions as knowing your numbers increases your numbers
